What makes LandScape unique?
Inclusion of exclusive national credit information
LandScape is the only Australian geo-demographic segmentation tool that includes credit information drawn from the largest single source of consumer credit information – the Credit Bureau.
As a result of having access to the most comprehensive credit and demographic information at an individual level, LandScape does not rely on an extensive use of derived variables making it by far the most robust area based segmentation solution in this region.
In addition, no other segmentation model has a direct feed of credit risk information which provides clients with additional targeting capability when making credit related offers.
Accuracy and relevance of underlying data
In addition to Census data, LandScape incorporates a large variety of family, household and Street Segment (15-25 households) level information which allows for extra accuracy in the model build. The model is based on more than 500 variables and altogether uses more than 1,000 variables to describe each segment. LandScape is based on:
- 2006 Census data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics providing insights into life stage, family structure, education, occupation, household income and wealth characteristics of individuals living in the 38,704 Census Collection Districts (200-250 households)
- Motor Vehicle Census Statistics from Australian Bureau of Statistics
- Ticketek Rewards and Entertainment data
- Veda Advantage Credit Bureau – the largest single source of consumer credit information in Australia
- Market Research data on attitudes, activities and lifecycle / life stage and socio-economic segmentation provided by Roy Morgan Research‘s Single Source
- National property data from www.propertyvalue.com.au and
- A wide range of Veda Advantage data variables including:
- Disposable Income
- Dwelling Type
- GeoRisk
- Household Composition
- Household Income
- Length of Residency
- Owner / Tenant Indicator

Subscribers to LandScape benefit from an additional service that Veda Advantage provides – a free market sizing tool. This tool allows clients to identify the number of households or individuals that fall into a certain LandScape group or segment within a defined geographic area. This is a useful planning tool to identify potential target markets for marketing campaigns.
In addition to providing a measure of size, an index can be displayed that compares demographics of a selected geographic region with the overall Australian population. The graph will allow clients to identify skews in the LandScape profile within the particular region selected. This insight can then be used for area level marketing activities.
